This review was requested by a reader on my last review on the GlamGlow Thirstycleanse Daily Cleanser, so here it is. I have been using these masks since December, so I’ve had them for a few months to give you my honest opinion. Before we get on to the review I’ll let you guys know what my skin type is. I normally have combination skin but lately it has been on the dry side. My skin is also very sensitive and I tend to suffer from a lot of redness. Remember that what works for me may not work for you, be sure to get samples before buying any product and testing out how well it works on you!
These masks have been so hyped up by all of the beauty gurus and bloggers I’m sure you all have seen them everywhere. They are also essspensive girl. A full size mask retails for $69. I know I had been dying to see if they were really worth the hype and for that matter my grocery bill. For the longest time I would stare at them with longing eyes in Sephora until finally they came out with mini bottles for $19 each! Now these mini bottles are 0.5oz compared to the 1.7oz full size. I took my time and each trip to Sephora I bought a new one, so I could slowly build up my collection. I now have 3 of the 4 masks. I am missing the white mask, which is the Supermud Clearing Treatment.
This mask definitely lives up to its mud name! I love using this mask when my skin is dull and flakey, or if I feel like the texture is off. This is perfect at night or even a few hours before a girl’s night out! The texture is just like a mud and almost feels cooling. It is a little gritty and there are leaves inside of the mud, which are green tea leaves that are filled with lovely antioxidants for your skin! You do have to use quite a bit of product because you must first apply it to your face, allow it to dry and with wet hands rub the product in to begin the exfoliating process. When you leave it on your face it does tingle quite a bit but don’t worry, even my ultra sensitive skin was okay with it. While it does require a lot of product to cover your whole face, my tip would be to apply to areas that need the most help like blackheads on the nose, or clogged pores on the cheeks for a quick spot treatment! The results for this are definitely instant; you are left with luxuriously soft skin.
This has to be my favorite mask of the bunch. The Thirstymud Hydrating Treatment is made for hydrating a dull and dry face. It smells like a tropical island filled with coconuts. The consistency is more of a gel like texture than a mud. You can also use this overnight (my suggestion) or you can leave it on your face for 15 minutes and wipe off the excess. If my face has been feeling dry or dull I will add this at the end of my nighttime routine and skip my usual moisturizer. When you wake up your face is clear, plump, hydrated, refreshed, soft- essentially it is perfection in a tub. This mask delivers on EVERYTHING it promises. This mask is packed with hydrating ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and raw honey. A plus, is that a little goes a long way you don’t have to use a lot of product to get the results you want so my mini tub has lasted me quite a while! I like to use masks about once a week, this one I love to use after the Youthmud Tingleexfoliate Treatment.
The Powermud Dualcleanse Treatment is super neat! It has a mud to oil technology so when you first apply it, it goes on like a mud but once you wet your hands and massage in circular motions it becomes like an oil. This mask is perfect for the daily makeup wearers as it offers a deep, yet gentle clean of your face. The consistency is much like the Thirstymud but it also has a little grit, which offers a gentle exfoliation. To me, it smells like fresh green apples and kiwi. Star ingredients include oils from prickly pear, pine and frankincense. I don’t wear makeup everyday so I save this mask for weeks when I do. But if you do wear a lot of makeup, this would be perfect for a once a week treatment.
So my bottom-line: Are they worth the money? Yes and no. I would say if you were forced to pick one I would without a doubt get the Thirstymud. Its results are so dramatic and lasting, plus a little goes a long way so you would be getting your money’s worth. The other two masks are fantastic as well! Who doesn’t like pampering themselves? I think the $19 options are perfect for twenties like us, it allows you to treat your face every once in awhile without breaking the bank. And if you find one you like, you could totally save up for the full size, which is sure to last you a long time!
I do want to try out some new masks! Comment below your favorite pampering products for your face, or any you would like me to do a review on!
