So I know I am late on the bandwagon but I just started using the GlamGlow masks in December and I absolutely love them. When I saw in a Sephora email that they were coming out with a cleanser it was seriously a no brainer, I knew I had to get my hands on it.

This cleanser retails for $39 at Sephora and comes in a pretty large 5 oz bottle that will definitely last you for a while. While it is pricey for a cleanser, it is almost a steal for a GlamGlow product. For those of you who are familiar with the masks, this cleanser seems like a little sister to their Thirstymud mask, which is totally a cult favorite (and for good reason).

Before I get into the full product review, I wanted to give a little disclaimer about my skin type. I have sensitive, and now dry (because of winter) skin. I am not acne prone but I do normally experience some redness. I have noticed also that with winter comes increased sensitivity. So what works for my skin type may not work for you! There’s no magic to this skincare game, you just have to figure out what is right for you.

The product itself looks and smells just like the Thirstymud mask. It takes you to some tropical island filled with coconuts. Before I bought the full size I tried samples from Sephora (which I HIGHLY suggest for any skincare item). What I didn’t realize is that I had been using the product incorrectly. For about a week I would wet my face like a normally do, massage in a dime sized amount of the Thirstycleanse and wash it all off of my face. I would then follow at night with a little bit of the Thirstymud mask. (They now sell mini versions of the mask for $19, how awesome right?!) And let me tell you girls my skin was loving it! Now I tried this regimen when I was in Miami for Christmas break so when I got back to Atlanta I decided to purchase the full size.

photo 3 That’s when things took a turn for the worst. So excited to whip my bottle out of that gorgeously black and white striped Sephora bag, I started to read every label on the bottle. I noticed that the instructions said to apply 2-3 pumps onto a dry face. Yea, I said dry! Realizing I had been doing something wrong I figured I wasn’t getting the full potential of the product. That night I started experiencing a tight and burning sensation on my face. I woke up the next morning with my face red and covered in little bumps. If you look in the reviews on Sephora’s website there are a few people complaining of their skin having an allergic reaction to the product. Because I was wetting my face and not using as much I was diluting the product, which is why I didn’t have such an adverse reaction before. After a few days of going back to my First Aid Beauty Cleanser and allowing my face to calm down I decided to try the Thirstycleanse again but not on a dry face. After doing this my skin didn’t react nearly as badly but I also didn’t find it very hydrating.

Now keep in mind this was just MY experience, and there are many other reviews of people loving this product. I know there’s a lot of GlamGlow hype out there so I wanted to let you guys know my honest experience. If you want to try it I just suggest getting a sample first and following their instructions which can be found on Sephora’s website. I also heard that they are coming out with cleansers for ALL of their masks. If you guys would like me to do a mask review just comment down below and let me know 🙂
